Bill Wadsworth Memorial

This award is bestowed upon a member who has made an outstanding contribution to archer and/or bowhunting in Saskatchewan or to the Saskatchewan Bowhunters Association. The award is named in memory of Bill Wadsworth, founder of the International Bowhunter Education Program. Bill dedicated his life to teaching of ethics, sportsmanship and conservation in the sport of bowhunting. The award is not presented annually, but is instead initiated by nomination and awarded on recommendation of the Executive. The award includes a certificate of merit, plaque and a lifetime membership in the Saskatchewan Bowhunters Association.

Past recipients include:

  • Al Hill - Was awarded the Bill Wadsworth Memorial Award in 1991, it's inaugural year. It was presented in recognition of the selfless contributions that Al has made for numerous years, not the least of which are his representation of the bowhunters point of view when addressing matters on the Saskatchewan Wildlife Federations' Presidents Council. Countless early victories for the Sask Pro-Bowhunters and SBA can be attributed to the dedicated and committed negotiations in active defence of bowhunting and conservation issues in Saskatchewan.

  • Bub Hill - Bub has been a long-time administrator of IBEP/NBEF in Saskatchewan, master instructor and long-time executive member who has given willingly of his time to instruct innumerable courses in bowhunter education. Bub could always be relied upon to instruct and aid prospective bowhunters throughout the province. His efforts, time and dedication have made Saskatchewan bowhunters safer, more knowledgeable and more ethical in their pursuit of our sport.

  • Archie Lovelace - Archie is a co-founder of Sask Pro Bowhunters, the parent organization of Saskatchewan Bowhunters Association and long-time Saskatchewan provincial archery coach. Archie has given freely of his time and knowledge so that countless others can enjoy the sport of archery and Bowhunting in Saskatchewan.

  • Darrell Senebald Has been a long-time executive member, past-president, a representative on numerous boards and steering committees and is the past editor of the annual awards yearbook. Darrell is a former Conservation Officer, worked on behalf of the Saskatchewan Wildlife Federation and currently operates a wilderness adventure booking and consulting firm. He has displayed a dedication in his life to the betterment of bowhunting and conservation in Saskatchewan. His contribution to the Saskatchewan Bowhunters Association and to the wildlife of Saskatchewan is immeasurable.

  • John McJannet - has been a member for 28 years, including 14 years on the executive, 4 years as president, and many years a Wildlife Advisory board representative. John is a farmer, and was often in the field during some prime hunting times, but he understood that the SBA is important to all bowhunters and in the end, to all hunters. John's opinions and persuasive manner was and will continue to be a benefit to the SBA organization.
